BIO

Pure Artist Music recording artist, Avery Doss is based in Denver, Colorado.

Avery's debut EP, Don't Speak About It, is reminiscent of artists such as Grizzly Bear, Royal Blood, N*E*R*D, and Gary Clark Jr. Each of the five tracks offers a new horizon, highlighting Avery’s creative diversity.

“Don’t Speak About It” delves into substance abuse, specifically psychological addiction as a coping mechanism or a means of self-actualization in socio-economically advantaged America. To save face, families and friends close to those struggling hide addiction ‘under the rug’.

“Smooth” shines light into the ‘hook-up’ club culture, a world where men are encouraged to be persistent, and women are often exploited. “Smooth” acknowledges confidence and self-esteem only occur with reciprocity, it is not something to be tested, but rather a shared experience between two people.

“Modern Affliction” explores ‘unrealistic’ aspirations, a spoon-fed social media narrative that fame i.e., ‘popularity’ solidifies our legacy, purpose in life, and standing in our community. Rather than developing our natural talents, we fantasize about celebrity and acclaim.

“Give Me Hell” taps Avery’s passion for street dance, a scene in which he actively participates. The song embraces the culture and exchange of energy between dancers within the space and pays homage to a legitimate dance style in ‘real’ terms.

Originally dropped on election night 2020, Avery’s debut single, “Our Town,” was inspired by events in his hometown, Portland, Oregon. The song is an extraordinary painting of cult of personality and authoritarian government.

Avery Doss is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, and beat-maker.
